2018 Recap

Looking back on it this year has been a good one! I thank God for all the blessings, ups and downs because it helped me get where I am today. There have been things that have transpired that I didn't think was possible or didn't even seen coming.

Opportunities:

March
Back in March, I headed to Atlanta for an influencer event by (Click to read) Torrid. This was my first time going to an influencer event out of town let alone with a company that represents me and my brand. I was able to get a sneak peek of their upcoming Spring Line for the year. I also was able to meet bloggers who I always see on Instagram and make some amazing connections.  After that trip, I attended Charleston Fashion Week and I was able to sit in the crowd at the show. Towards the end of the month, I was invited to a body positive photoshoot which something that I've always wanted to do.  That whole month was a ride even ending the month with the flu for my 27th birthday.

July

I attended SMAD-CON  a local social media conference and before this, I'd never attended one. This was such a great experience because they allowed me to do a takeover while I was in Atlanta back in March. I gained a lot of knowledge during this conference and hopefully, they'll be another one coming soon.

September
I hosted my first in-store event at Loft ( check it out here). This was my first time that I hosted an in-store event and I knew it wouldn't be my last. Along with this event I was featured in a local magazine Skirt. I gave tips on what to wear for Fall while being curvy. Little did I know something similar to this would happen the next month.

October
I was featured in the local newspaper on the topic of being a blogger here in Charleston. I was speechless when I saw the article pointed out. My parents were so proud, especially my daddy.  To end this month, my first paid partnership happened with Soul Food sessions Charlotte. Myself and several other local bloggers were picked to recreate a dish created by the Chefs of Soul Food Sessions. This was alot of work but I got it done. The dish was different but so good!

Overall my journey for my blog and brand this year was such a huge blessing. Each experience taught me so much. Not only did these things make my year great but I traveled more even though my schedule was hectic.

Where I went:
-Atlanta, GA
-Myrtle Beach
-Baltimore,MD

Accomplishments

I finished my Bachelor's Degree!  For the past two years, I've been putting in the work for this degree and I walked across the stage on December 1st. After that, I felt that if I can accomplish this, I can do anything I put my mind to.

Events:

My fiance' and I are really big Clemson Tiger fans and thanks to his mom we were able to attend their game back in Septemeber.  That is the second Clemson game I've been to and it was so much fun.  Last but not least, speaking of Fiance', I'm officially engaged!  On December 23rd he popped the question. Be on the on the lookout for a blog post on how it all happened.

Lessons
This year came with many lessons about life and about myself. It was like each day this year was an eye-opener, like I had an epiphany every day.

  • Continue to do the work even when you feel there is no progress.
  • Being a blogger I have to understand that some things are business not personal
  • Just because you'll go the extra mile  doesn't mean it'll be returned
  • Everyone doesn't have the same heart as you
  • With time everything will fall into place
  • Everything won't always work out the way you plan but willing to adjust

I could go on and on about this year but honey I don't have the time.  But if you've read down to this part thank you! I hope you took at least one thing away from this blog post of even from 2018 that you can use next year. I hope you continue to strive for whatever you want and don't give up on YOU!

Until Next Year,
